In response to the KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD 2026 theme, “HAMON — Design that Resonates,” Exterminote explores how an ordinary notebook can quietly communicate the growing threat of animal extinction.
More animals are becoming endangered, including the polar bear. The notebook begins with a healthy bear, but as each page is turned, it gradually becomes thinner until it eventually disappears.
Each page turn reflects the fragile relationship between human activity and the survival of other species. Exterminote challenges the conventional role of a notebook, transforming it into a subtle educational medium that makes an invisible environmental issue gradually visible.
